_a.Tropical rainforests all around the world are being depleted and endangered for more land, more money, lumber, oil mining, Large and small holder agriculture, and cattle pastures. In all Humans clear 1.5 acres of rainforest per second or 50 football fields per minute. One of the reasons is that when the farmers do not find the soil fertile anymore and the soil starts to erode they go over cut more trees dTropical_Rainforest.jpgown and start farming there. Also when the farmers dont know what to do with the trees they cut down they burn them just to get the trees off "their" land. Lumbering companies take advantage of these huge trees and cut the trees down to cut into planks of varying sizes then sell them off for profit. Also mining for oil and coal can easily hurt the rainforest with the contamination and the oil spills. In all right now we are doing more harm then good.

_b.Humans also help the tropical rainforest and although we may not be keeping up with those that are destroying it we definitely try to slow it down. One of the ways we help is by setting up preserves that are defended and are "preserved" from the destruction of the rest of the rainforest. Humans also re-plant many trees in the tropical rainforest for more of the rainforest habitat. Thinking about it people are forced to clean up what other people have done and even though we jus want to save this world others only care about profit. Tourism helps governments pay for these preserves and upkeep a constant watch on the park of the tropical rainforest. As people we help the tropical rainforest by helping it grow back from other's destruction. Cleaning up oil as best we can and re-planting trees is a good start but to save the tropical rainforest we have to do more. Back at home many people buy products that were made by a company who helps the rainforest. Poeple also buy exotic animals that were captive bred instead of buying smuggled animals who were captured and brought to the U.S. for an expensive price. Together with a strong effort people are starting to help the rainforest.

_a. One big problem in the Tropical Rain Forest currently is deforestation. Deforestation's main causes are logging or clearing of rainforest by burning vegetation for cattle grazing or agriculture. Deforestation is extremely damaging to the Tropical Rain Forest. It affects the biodiversity of not only plants but animals also. Many species have become endangered because their habitat has been destroyed by deforestation. A solution to save the tropical Rain Forest from deforestation is to decrease the need of Tropical Rain Forest to be cleared by increasing the productivity of farms, pastures, and plantations. Other solutions to save the Tropical Rain Forest are to rehabilitate and restore degraded forest as well as establish protective areas to save sections of Rain Forest.

_b. Another problem facing the Tropical Rain Forest today is the significant decline in Tropical Rain Forest's amphibian population. It is being caused by a fungal disease and the climate change. The fungal disease called Chytrid fungus has quickly spread and is endangering Amphibians on 4 different continents. It is extremely dangerous to Amphibians because there is no known cure. An association that is helping frogs, Ark, has come up with a solution.Their idea is to put frogs in zoos and aquariums to prevent them from being infected by the fungus. The second reason for the decline of Tropical Rainforest Amphibians is the climate change affecting amphibians all around the world. The reason is many tropical amphibians are very sensitive to temperature and cannot live in climates much warmer or cooler than what is normal. So when the specific temperatures and enviroments that amphibians live in are being changed too quickly for them to adapt they die out. The obvious solution is to pollute less. Reducing co2 ommisions will slow the process of global warming. Climate change and the fungal disease are a one-two punch that Amphibians may not be able to recover from.
